SERVE at Home is a way for your family to spread kindness and help our community on your own, anytime, anywhere! For this activity, you will work with your family at home to make comfort bags for Ronald McDonald House. More often than not, families arrive at Ronald McDonald House with the bare minimum. Show them someone cares by donating the comforts of home.

Activity Directions

To make a comfort bag, complete the following steps:

Choose to create a gender neutral comfort bag that can be used by either men or women

Select one size for all the items in the bag: Small, Medium, or Large

You will need the following supplies:

• Drawstring backpack - please do not use a different type of container
• Sweatpants
• T-shirts
• Underwear
• Slipper socks
• Essentials: Travel size toiletries - Shampoo/conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, bath soap, deodorant, mouthwash, etc.
• Fleece blanket
• Notebook
• Pen
• Card with inspirational message such as:
  Wishing you laughter and happiness!
  You rock!
  Sending you sunshine!
  Or anything else fun, positive, and uplifting! You can write a joke or draw a picture.
  
  Please do not put anything religious or health related on the cards.

You can purchase supplies for and make as many comfort bags as your family is able to donate. We recommend making 1-2 comfort bags, but any amount you can put together is appreciated.

When finished, you can drop the comfort bags off at Ronald McDonald House.

• Our program is designed to be a family experience. We want parents and caregivers to work alongside their child(ren) for all our Family Volunteering activities.

Our SERVE at Home activities are a way for your family to spread kindness and help our community on your own, anytime, anywhere! Work with your family to complete this activity anytime during the month. Be sure to take pictures of your family working together on this project so we can certify your submission when you are done. We ask that SERVE at Home activities be completed within the same month of the calendar listing or within 7 days of the listing, whichever time frame is longer.

After you RSVP for this event, we will send you an email with a form for you to submit your photos and let us know you've completed the activity!
