SERVE at Home is a way for your family to spread kindness and help our community on your own, anytime, anywhere!

For this activity, you will work with your family to clean up the area in and around the ATX Free Fridge Project to keep it safer and more comfortable for everyone who uses it.

You will need to provide the cleaning supplies for this activity. This activity can be completed at your convenience by signing up for a time that works for you on the ATX Free Fridge Clean Up calendar.

Activity Directions

1. Go to the ATX Free Fridge Clean Up calendar to sign up for a location and date that works for your family. To find a current ATX Free Fridge location, please visit their website for the most up to date list of fridge locations. *Note: The Dittmar location (618 W Dittmar Rd) may still appear on the map, but the fridge is no longer active. Please use the map to find an alternative location.
2. Please clean fridges in the morning or evening during the summer to keep fridges at safe temperatures!
3. What to bring:
   - Gloves
   - Trash bags
   - Cleaning wipes and/or cleaning spray + paper towels
   - Trash bag
4. Here's what to do:
   - Throw out old/unlabeled food
   - Wipe down shelves and fridge & pantry handles
   - Organize fridge and pantry
   - Check fridge temperature
   - Flatten and recycle boxes
   - REPLACE TRASH BAG IF FULL - trash discard will depend on location- you may need to take it with you.
   - Take photos!
   - Please note: removing any trash is the most important part of a cleaning shift!

• This activity is great for all ages!
• Our program is designed to be a family experience. We want parents and caregivers to work alongside their child(ren) for all our Family Volunteering activities.

SERVE at Home Program Information

Our SERVE at Home activities are a way for your family to spread kindness and help our community on your own, anytime, anywhere! Work with your family to complete this activity anytime during the month. Be sure to take pictures of your family working together on this project so we can certify your submission when you are done. We ask that SERVE at Home activities be completed within a month of the calendar listing or within 7 days of the listing, whichever time frame is longer.

After you RSVP for this event, we will send you an email with a form for you to submit your photos and let us know you've completed the activity!
